New to ADHD Meds and have some questions...

Hi everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read this. I just started medication for adult ADHD. I have been on 20 mg of Adderall, which I take twice a day. Because I am new to treating this disorder with medication, I am not sure what to expect. I have had no side effects with Adderall, except for a "crashing" feeling when I am due for my next dose. I have found that the mid day crash is more intense than the evening one. Other than that, I have no complaints. My mood is boosted, I have a bit more energy during the day and I am able to focus on tasks more than I used to. However, I do still feel some "brain fog." I have found that I am still forgetting things and misplacing things. I am still a little "spacey". I have also noticed that I am making way more typos than usual, which I thought was odd (I apologize for any in this email!). I don't feel "clear headed." My doctor told me to try the Adderall for two weeks and if I didn't like it, to fill a script she gave me for dexedrine. My question is this: how much improvement should I be expecting? Should my symptoms be completely gone while the medication is in my system? Or am I just looking for improvement? Is some brain fog normal or should that be gone? I don't know if I should rock the boat and try something else because I feel fine on Adderall, but I would like for some of this fog to clear. I appreciate any advise you guys can give! Thanks so much!

I was glad to read your message. I am in the same situation. I was on 20mg of Adderall and then 10mg later in the day. I noticed no effects, which surprised my doctor, so she had me take both pills together. I only notice that I have a little more energy, but I can't prioritize or focus. I am still easily distracted and feel overwhelmed. I'm not sure if this is normal or not because my doctor was really surprised that I noticed no difference on 20mg, but it's reassuring to know that someone else is in the same situation as I am. Don't know how common higher doses are. I just want to get things accomplished and not feel so lazy.
