Probably screwed
I'm new to this site, but not new to ADHD. I was diagnosed when I was 9, I'm 24 now, I've been on medication for the majority of that time. I'm very open about being ADD as my whole family has been diagnosed, except my mom. So I was raised knowing it wasn't a big deal.
I work in retail, in a store that has a pharmacy which makes it very convenient to get my prescriptions filled. It's nice because of all the laws and stuff, the people in the pharmacy can't give out my information, so I felt protected but still had the convenience. My current boss, used to work in the pharmacy then she transferred out to the position that she has now. I transferred to the team that she is in charge of about 2 years ago, so she all ready knew what I was taking and what they were commonly used for. No big deal since I am very open about it, I told her that I was ADD and that as an adult I know how to control it. I know how to function when on those off days I forget my meds. She seemed to have very little understanding of what ADD was but I told her the basics.
Well, recently I was on vacation with my family and misplaced my pill bottle. So I was unable to get a new prescription to get more because of all the laws on dispensing a controlled substance and the time frames for getting the medicine refilled. I did not tell my boss that I hadn't been taking it. One night I was having difficulties counting, which I have that problem most days anyway, but this time it was causing me to make extra trips. I usually write down what I need so when I have a long enough list I can make fewer trips. On this night I didn't have a pen and going to get a pen would've still involved an extra trip. When I told her about this she asked me if I had taken my meds? I told her the truth that I hadn't had them in two weeks. I asked her how she noticed and she said well she is a mom. Then the next week I was working and I did half of my project completely backwards from the right way. It has happened to other people but because I make it a point to try really hard to do things right the first time she seemed very displeased. And she in a jokingly way said I put you over here by yourself so you could focus. I ended up fixing it but it still had it's impurities, but it was fixed. She was okay with that.
Now before the second incident I found my meds and decided not to take them, She does not know this information and probably will not know this information.
Now my question is, am I being discriminated against? My bosses boss or as we call them, the executives don't know about my ADD. I've worked for the company for 7 years and have no plans to tell them about my ADD. I work for a company that has an employee relations and integrity hot-line. Should I call the hot-line about the incidents or wait and see if more is to become of it?
