therapist thinks i may have adult add
My therapist is now convinced that I have ADD. I thought these things were kind of normal but they are adding up a bit. I'm 35, a returning adult student after I lost a job through downsizing. I'm fairly intelligent and think I have been able to fake it all these years because of that. But it's hard to imagine, ADD is scoffed at.
This is the kind of thing:
1. I lost my hat and gloves at school. Then another day, I lost my bike helmet, which I normally carry with me to class and the library and programming lab. HOW DID I LOSE SOMETHING AS BIG AS A BIKE HELMET?
2. Frantically done assignments at the last minute.
3. Late to class, meetings, etc. (But really working on it!)
4. Always trying to fit in 'one more thing.' before I leave for appointments (cf lateness).
5. Interrupting others (which I posit is a latino thing that I learned from my family).
6 Not seeing or losing track of things visually (which might be due to the thyroid eye disease).
7. I think I mentioned, I did great on an exam a couple of weeks ago except for the one whole page of the exam that I missed.
8. Messy in general
One thing -- I can make myself be really organized about certain things. When others are really and truly depending on me, I come through. But I think I put more effort into this than others do. Life should be more effortless.
So, I'm on to testing. It's time to know if these are just personality traits/bad habits or real ADD.
