Socially Challenged 8yo with Fixation on Girl

My little guy has a fixation on a girl in his class, who in no way shares his feelings. Has anyone else experienced this with such a young child? Any advice is welcome, especially on how to talk to him about his feelings. He doesn't have many real friends and I'm not sure how to steer him in a healthier direction.

Yes, my son did this at that age and at age 10 he has had 2 steady "girlfriends" this year. It's all very innocent but I do keep a very open line of communication with him. I think this is more about kids growing up too fast than specifically about ADHD, however, and my advice is to start being open and honest about what you find acceptable, how to channel these feelings, ect.
