Help, son given wrong meds at school

I appologize if this is the wrong place to post this, but I wasn't sure where to post so I just picked one. Last week I found out that the school had given my son his morning medication at noon. This happened as far as I have been able to figure out on Weds and Thurs. I found out Thurs evening and put a stop to it. Thurs night he was sick because of the high levels in his system. As you may guess I was furious, how could this have happened??? I called the principal as soon as I got home and his response was "well there isn't anything I can do about it now" and I haven't heard another word from him. The school secretary who was responsible for giving him his meds called me the next day to discuss his meds, she also called me over the weekend to check on him and talked with me again yesterday. I know she feels bad and it was completely accidental, but what if there had been a severe reaction more than him getting sick. What if he had ended up in the hospital or worse? Our school is very small and rural and we don't have a school nurse, but I don't think that this is any excuse. I am trying to file a formal complaint with our state's office of pulic instruction, but I haven't heard anything back from the voice message and email i left on friday. I recently contacted Disability Rights organization in our state to as for help, but again had to leave a message. Has anyone else had this happen? What did you do, who did you call? I don't want to cause much more trouble than I already have with getting him a 504 and getting them to even give him his medication, but I need to feel that my son is safe at school and getting what he needs to be able to function. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Write letters up the chain of command until you get a positive r

Take the time for each level to give an opportunity to respond. Save all correspondence.
