Son newly diagnosed...

My 6 yr old was recently diagnosed with ADHD. We have been doing several things to help him but I still feel very lost in the whole process. He just stared Concerta XR (18 mg) last week and so far we have see no significant changes. I was under the impression we would see a noticeable difference shortly after started the medication but this has not been the case. His teacher stated that had she not been told he was on the medication that she never would have noticed a difference.

In addition to medication we have shifted his diet to a more protein rich one and added Omega-3 supplement. These resulted in very minor differences.

Not sure what to expect going forward...

talk to doc

It's probably time to put a call into your doc to discuss changing the dosage of medication. You should see a difference with 24 hours.

Changes....

After a week of disaster on the Concerta we switched him to the Stratterra and WOW what an amazing change it had. It did take a couple of weeks but once it started working it has been wonderful. He is no longer getting in trouble in class, he can focus on work and doesn't disrupt his classmates. So glad we went this route!
