ADD and stress

Hi everyone! I am an adult with ADD, and I take Ritalin, which has greatly improved my ability to focus and work more efficiently. However, I feel like I'm constantly stressed out, which is starting to affect my health in other ways. My mind is constantly rushing, and I'm actually more stressed when I have time off and few plans, so weekends and holidays doesn't help at all, unless I go away for holiday. If I'm at home during a weekend, thinking that I will have time to relax, recharge and do nice things, I usually just end up running from one thing to the next, focusing on each thing for 5 minutes before getting tired of it, thinking of household things I should probably do (but often end up not doing) try to organize myself and remember my plans, and just end up driving myself mad. And evenings after work are the same. I just can't seem to relax. I've tried different kinds of meditation, yoga and so on, which works for 5 or 10 minutes some times, but after that, trying to focus on a mantra, breathing or whatever it is just makes me more stressed, not less. I have ADD without the hyperactivity, so I would have thought it would be easier for me to relax and not feel stressed than if I had ADHD, but well, not the case it seems. Which means I'm almost constantly exhausted. Have any of you found good ways to relax, and deal with stress so that it doesn't become a health problem?

dont worry about a thing, because every little thing, is gonna b

when i start to feel stressed i usually go runing or punch a punching bag. the best way for me to deal with stress and anxiety in the past though, and the thing that keeps me most relaxed ( even more than a punching bag) is this one fact: me being stressed or worried doesnt fix a thing, so i just dont do it as a choice. life is too short, to worry, be happy!

for the advice and resources! You're right Ben, worrying really doesn't fix anything. I'll try your approach, and try to make and active choice not to do it so much! And thank you for the links Mary, I'll definitely read them all! :)

Juli, I would suggest looking into EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and ZPoint. They are easily found on Google. These tools can be very helpful to gain relief from what you are describing.
