ADD and stress
Hi everyone! I am an adult with ADD, and I take Ritalin, which has greatly improved my ability to focus and work more efficiently. However, I feel like I'm constantly stressed out, which is starting to affect my health in other ways. My mind is constantly rushing, and I'm actually more stressed when I have time off and few plans, so weekends and holidays doesn't help at all, unless I go away for holiday. If I'm at home during a weekend, thinking that I will have time to relax, recharge and do nice things, I usually just end up running from one thing to the next, focusing on each thing for 5 minutes before getting tired of it, thinking of household things I should probably do (but often end up not doing) try to organize myself and remember my plans, and just end up driving myself mad. And evenings after work are the same. I just can't seem to relax. I've tried different kinds of meditation, yoga and so on, which works for 5 or 10 minutes some times, but after that, trying to focus on a mantra, breathing or whatever it is just makes me more stressed, not less. I have ADD without the hyperactivity, so I would have thought it would be easier for me to relax and not feel stressed than if I had ADHD, but well, not the case it seems. Which means I'm almost constantly exhausted.
Have any of you found good ways to relax, and deal with stress so that it doesn't become a health problem?
