Obsession With Locked Doors-- Add/HD Symptom?

In the past year my son has become obsessed with locking ALL our house doors leading outside, mainly when it starts getting late evening. At night, he will get out of bed at least once to RECHECK the locks, or wake me up to ask if I have checked them. He has mentioned being scared of people breaking in our home. Likewise, his father, who has ADHD symptoms (but not diagnosed) tends to want the locks secured at night or when we leave the house. And I recently heard of another boy that would lock his family's home doors by 6pm, and throw a fit if anyone came or went through the doors. Is this the over-active/imaginative mind of ADD/HD, or is there more to it? We are in a relatively safe rural town environment with no crimes reported to homes or families, and I don't let son watch movies to indicate these kinds of crimes, so I am confused by his obsessive need to "keep intrudeers out". Anyone else seen or heard of this?

Could be related but....

Have you considered having him assessed for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)?

OCD Behavior or ADHD

He does have Obsessive "moments", but they are random, other than this "locked doors" thing. For instance, he can be quite messy with his toys, but when he stacks them out of the way, if one distracts him by not being put away as HE wants it, he will go back and change it. But this will happen at random times, not every time he puts up the toys. His only current diagnoses are dyslexia and dysgraphia with ADHD.
