Shift Work and ADHD Meds

Hey there! I'm new to the forum. I have a husband and 2 of our 3 children are inattentive ADHD. My oldest daughter (not ADHD) is going with a guy that is ADHD inattentive/hyperactive. He works shift work (7-3, 3-11, 11-7). It changes weekly. What advice does anyone have for taking meds and working shift work. Thank you! Jen :)

Shift Work and ADHD

I have ADD and I work a rotating shift ie: 7-7, 12 hr shift days/nights. When I am on days I take my meds in the a.m. as normal workers would. When I rollover to nights I usually take my meds that 1st morning of my night run, then don't take my next dose until I get up the next afternoon to go in that night. This helps me focus while at work on nights. The sad but true thing about this, it makes it EXTREMELY difficult to get back into the day routine. I rotate shifts weekly, like every third day. It is tough, but you learn to manage the meds with your shift schedule. I know also that it is hard to feel all "Chipper" and "Happy" after a rotation like this due to swapping your meds schedule. It usually takes me a few days to recoup. Hope this helps, God Bless.
