Grad School Professor Doesn't Understand!

Hey, I'm in graduate school and I struggled alot this semester getting used to the heavy workload and having things due everyday. I also have trouble concentrating in class and having things turned in on time, which I thought was typical for a student with add/ADHD. I went to talk with one of my professors and she told me that MY ADHD was different than any of her students before; that her previous students were always so concerned with falling behind that they always overworked and turned everything in early. I'm not sure what type of students she's had in the past, but that's nothing like me! I don't know what to do, she obviously doesn't understand my disability, but is very insistent that she does and I'm just lazy and disrespectful because I blurt out things in class and can't pay attention. How do I educate her without making her even more angry than she already is?

Talk to Office of Disability Support.

I would make an appointment with whatever your school calls the Office for Students with Disabilities. #1 Make sure that you are properly registered and following their procedures. #2 They are the folks that work with the faculty. They are best equipped to help you with your site specific issues. Remember, there are disability/accommodation issues and there are "my prof is a jerk issues." You will only be able to get help for one set of them.
