Problem with Strobe lights and Flickering lights
It's been awhile since I last visited the forum but this evening I feel the need to unload one of my few true frustrations with ADHD and as odd as it may sound it has to do with strobe lights and flickering lights. You see with Ritalin and various vitamin supplements I'm able to do just about everything I want to do (except for a relationship).
Yet tonight I went to dance I helped organize and setup for the past month and everyone agreed on black lights and no strobe/flickering lighting. Well, there was that strobe-type lighting and with it on there was a complete disconnect in my ability to form proactive and coherent thoughts. Actually the lighting increased my anxieties.
The thing is, I love to dance and am pretty good at it, but with that lighting, I had trouble thinking clearly and the one time I was able to force myself on the dance floor it seemed the rapid on and off succession of the lights (even with back to the lights) made it practically impossible to get myself to dance to the music. Again, I normally don't even have to think about how to dance, I just do it, but with the lights I had trouble even thinking about how to do it.
Anyway, I'm just frustrated about this and felt like posting. Anyone else ever have this problem? Any suggestions? Because I'd very much love to go to dance clubs, but they have strobe lights there as well.
