Help, major setback with meds/treatment...
Hi all, I am not doing so well right now. The Straterra did not agree with me. Too many side effects. It worked great the first and second day, even though I had a terrible headache and nausea, sweating and dizziness. I had energy and was able to focus longer than usual. But the third, fourth and fifth days were getting worse and worse. I started feeling tired, grumpy, weepy, more nauseas, more dizzy, sweaty, headache, cramps, problems being able to pee. The side effects are just not worth it to me, so I stopped taking it. Now I don't know what to do. My current psychiatrist will not prescribe me any stimulants because of my drug history, even thought I've been doing great for years now, I want to at least be able to try them to see if they will help my ADD symptoms. I think I am going to have to wait until Dec. 31 for my appointment with my new psychiatrist and keep seeing my psychologist weekly until then, because it is helping. Or maybe I'll have to wait until after my Jan. 7th 3 hour testing. Either way, they are only a week apart. So frustrating, I was so excited to have my psych. diagnose me and give me the Strattera, but my mood has been horrible, and my poor husband is suffering because of it. He is so patient with me, I am truly lucky. Today my aunt said something and it just sent me off the deep-end, I started bring up childhood stuff. She looked so confused, I was just feeling awful. My session with my psychologist was not fun either, 45 minutes of me crying about hating having a drug historyy and how it's not fair that I've been living with ADD my whole life, just finding out now when I'm 28, and I self-medicated for many years. Because of that, I can't get stimulants, even though they seem way safer than Straterra in my opinion. I've never had so many ill side effects from Adderal or Ritalin, and they've been around for 50+ years! Strattera is very very new. Any comments would be much appreciated, I feel so hopeless right now. Thank you, L
