early morning anxiety or heart palpitation

I often wake early, before my alarm, feeling a feeling of panic. Sometimes, there is something that I feel nervous about, sometimes it is just an unsettling feeling. I went for counseling and was given organizational tips with different kinds of lists to make or files to make. I went to a psychiatrist to see if medication would help. The medication just made me sleepy.

Anti-anxiety

I'm assuming the anti-anxiety that made you sleepy was some sort of benzo-. You could either try lowering the dose of that or you could try Buspar/Buspirone. It's won't make you sleepy like a benzo- will. I didn't feel like it helped me much when I was on it, but a friend of mine swears by it. In addition to those, you could try an anti-depressant or combination of anti-depressants. That is a safer approach most doctors like to take.
