Bupropion HCL XL (a.k.a. Wellbutrin XL)...?
Brief history: I was diagnosed w/ ADD about 20 years ago when I was in grade school (age 8 or so). I've been on and off meds for a while. As a kid and pre-teen, it was the standard Ritalin. Then as I got older, I was switched to Adderall, which seemed to work fine throughout college, but I would get a bit shaky and I had a hard time keeping weight on (I know this sounds like a good thing, but it wasn't). I stopped w/ meds after college b/c mom and dad weren't paying anymore. During the ADD medicine hiatus, I was on antidepressants, which seemed to tone down some of the ADD problems. Two years of being completely med-free, ADD issues returned big time. Looking for a new med, I knew Adderall wasn't great b/c I hated feeling shaky and always forgetting to eat (zero appetite on that one). I tried Strattera first, but that did not go well...I was dizzy for the entire time I took that one. Now I'm on Wellbutrin XL (or the generic Bupropion XL) and I hear that it's also an antidepressant.
Has anybody had particularly great results on this one? I worry b/c it is extended release and I have a hard time remembering to take my medicine on weekends. My adderall prescription was as-needed instead of extended release for this reason. If I miss a dose or two on accident, will it never fully work?
