Laid Off Again

Where to start, update resume, change curtains, go on internet job sites, take a bath, should I be decietful about how many employers and length of employment this time around. Put away summer clothes. The ADHD brain is very selective about what it allocates its time for. Everything steals my attention. If I don't have an intense desire to do somthing, it does not get done. My motivation does not seem like it can be chosen, and with out motivation everything I do is with half effort. Unfortunately at this time what I need to be doing and what I have motivation to do are rarely one and the same. My mind tells me write a list at night for the next day about 1- what you want to do, and 2 - what you need to do, and 3 - how to start doing something I don't have intense desire for. What do you do?

create good habits

It's important to create routines for successful time management. For instance, Saturday morning is always time for laundry. You clean bathrooms each Sunday evening. You go to the gym Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7 pm. Whatever it may be that is a regular task, schedule it for the same time each week.

Also, The Fly Lady, Judith Kolberg, suggests you break down tasks into small pieces and put everything into your calendar. Her article, "Get Things Done with Adult ADD" (http://www.additudemag.com/adhd-web/article/4872.html) lays out a detailed game plan for how to organize your to-do list and actually complete it.

It will take time to create new habits but these ideas can help.
