Live Scribe

Has anyone had any experience having their child use Live Scribe in their classes. Essentially, it is a pen which can record the audio of the class, can connect to the child's home computer to play back the audio, and can also interact with notes taken in class using a special notebook geared to the pen?

I use LiveScribe Pulse Pen as an adult

I was diagnosed with ADHD in my twenties and use a LiveScribe pen for work.

Pros from an ADD perspective:

Unique, interesting, and even programmable (Java--for advanced users) device

Recorded text can be played back as it happened with sound

Press any text to hear what was said at the time (only if sound recording was on)

Cons:

I hate forgetting it at home!

Somewhat expensive, though newer models push price of older versions down

Can only record on special paper, though some printers can print the necessary pattern

And like any "gee whiz" tool, sometimes I lose interest or forget to use it. I think the act of taking notes does more for me than having the recordings. Though I write neater and take notes more often when I have the pen!

I would have best used and appreciated such a pen in junior high and up. I'd recommend it as a tool to enhance the educational experience.

Live Scribe Pen

Thanks very much for your info. By coincidence, the purpose of the pen is to get my ADHD son use to using it next year when he attends junior high school.
