Should I take medication?

I have been diagnosed with ADD many years ago and was prescribed Strattera, I didn't stay on it for too long because it sort of zoned me out and I didn't feel like myself. Also, I was attending school and I didn't need to take my meds. But, now since I am in upper division classes in Chemistry I find myself becoming overwhelmed and I'm losing focus. I wonder should I restart my Strattera med or should I try another med? Thanks for any input.

should I take medicaton

Def. talk to your doctor. Tell him what you've been experiencing, how you reacted in the past to meds, and review if there is something better as an option (drugs or therapy) Therapy can be so great, but it's one of those things you only get back what you put into it, and honesty with yourself and medical professionals is a must. good luck!

Meds

I don't know if I took the medication long enough for it to work. It was a while a go so I might have bailed out on it before it could do any real positive effects.

Strattera takes about 3 months to fully work. It's a drug you have to be dedicated to for the long haul - no on and off. But whatever, it's really a big help to take the medication (the one that helps YOU) on a daily basis because you have a more consistent ability to take care of things you need to. I never take a break from my ADD meds and I've been on them for about 12 years. I've also been in therapy for longer than that. I would trade my experience in therapy or the help I've received from medications for anything. They both really make life a lot less overwhelming for me. I really wish you well. Charlotte

Medication

CMSReece...Thanks for the input. I just needed some reassurance about taking it. I'm now in the process of help paying for the medication.
