ADD Meds and Sports
TLC Mom
You need to get Michael E. Stabeno's the ADHD Affected Athlete. It is a must for any ADHD or ADD parent who plays sports and it's the only book about this subject that I have been able to find. Our son is 11 and plays baseball and basketball. It's been a trial and error. In baseball meds are a must, in basketball, he seems to do ok without, but tends to be impulsive and he shoots too much. According to Stabeno's book, Hockey is an excellent sport for ADDers. It's also trial and error in telling the coach.
Baseball is not considered a good sport for ADHD, but our son is a very good pitcher and he loves to play, so we have not discouraged him.
