another diagnosis for tasha
natasha was diagnosed with adhd when she was in grade 2, had a sensory profile done in grade 3 and was found to be over stimulated and now at the end of grade 5 she has had a psycoeducational assessment done and been diagnosed with a learning disability that is related to her memory. she has trouble remembering the stuff she is learning. she also has a slow processing speed. This mostly effects her math and writing. she has had several new adaptations added to her list. before she was supposed to be given extra time to complete things and be allowed time alone when she needed it to avoid distraction but now she also needs directions broken down better and into steps, she needs things explained in different ways, and needs what they called "cognitive credit cards" which means when doing math questions for example they would have to write out the steps for each type of problem and let her have it beside her. they will have someone spend time with her teaching her skills she needs to be more organized and lots more.
she is still on strattera which the teachers say help and we see a lot less tantrums from her when she is on a proper dose. I am going to take the report to my doctor and ask to be referred back to the pediatrician to talk to him about this.
i am thankful shes finally going to get the help she needs
