Did they ever explain why?
The training and credentials for both professions vary... as well as the ability levels from within...
More importantly, I am less concerned with what label or Dx the professionals give and more concerned with why they came to the conclusion.
Has anyone given you an assessment report?
What was the method of attaining the diagnosis?
An immediate suspicion, but I would need to look-up to confirm... is that giving ADHD meds to someone that is possibly bipolar could trigger a manic episode.
If that is the case, they would want to err on the side of not giving the medication.
However, that is an aside.
In reality, ask ALL previous providers (not just the ones that you agree with) for how they derived their diagnoses in written format.
I would trust the ones that do so in the most thorough manner the most.
I also suspect that none may be able to do so - or will whip something up after-the-fact....
