newly diagnosed and concerned
Hello,
I was recently rediagnosed after having been treated for adhd a number of years ago.
My doctor and I discussed whether I wanted to concentrate on my working day only or the whole day. I felt that the working part was significant and indicated that that would be my focus. She gave me a initial first time prescription for 63 adderall 10mg tablets and instructed me to take 1 10mg adderall pill every morning for the first week, 2 10mg pills every morning, or 20mg a day for the second week and 3 tablets every morning or 30mgs a day for the 3rd week. I was given a return medicine consult appointment for the end of the third week. For the first few days, the medicine seemed to work fine except that it wore off so fast. After the first week taking 1 10mg pill in the morning I decided to take a second dose in the afternoon. In effect, while I was not particularly comfortable with increasing the dosage on my own, I've become familiar with current practices as far as the treatment of the adhd goes and I felt that upping the dose on my own wasn't necessarily a fatal error. In a few days, I will see the doctor again for refills. Because I chose to up the dosage, I have already run out of meds but I don't feel any real negative effects. Should I be overly concerned about explaining this to the doctor or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill - I am not minimizing the seriousness of not following doctor's instructions - especially with cns meds.
Thank you
