How do you know if a Dr. is qualified to screen an adult for ADD/ADHD? Or is there a specific Dr. to look for & would he/she readily prescribe meds? I really think meds would not work for me, I'm very sensitive to over-the-counter meds as it is. I was prescribed anti-depressants years ago & they really made me feel so 'out of my head'.

I was going to suggest how I did it through my university's counseling services, but since you're out of school, I would suggest you start by getting a list of all the mental health professionals in your area that your insurance will cover. From there, you can get on his/her board's websites to a) check if they're board certified and b) see if they've been certified in a specialty (such as add/adhd!). But typically, you won't be that lucky. So, just start calling from the list you've compiled until you find one that does add/adhd testing for adults. Also, if your old school provides testing for adhd or learning disabilities, you should still check to see if you (as a former student) are eligible. The fee may be higher.
