It's your life
My dad had a similar perspective. So did I until my son was diagnosed at age 8. Then me at age 42. Then my childhood family life fit. Life is much better now. ADD is many times shared by family and generations. I just wish I knew before my dad passed.
Attention Deficit Disposition is a double edged sword that can be an asset as strong as it is a liability.
Tests and evaluations are available that create numbers and properly interpreted by informed and supportive professionals can provide life changing information and guidance. After that, the biggest help is found in your own shoes. Understanding your own strengths and weaknesses provides the best tool for capturing needed support and assistance.
Intelligence is like fine cutlery. If it can carry an edge, it may get dull from abuse, but you can always sharpen back to new. If you got the grades once, you've got what it takes. I advise working on your skills and delegating your weaknesses.
