you need lots of documentation, not only a diagnosis, but also of failing significantly at work related tasks, ie: falling apart for weeks on end, losing jobs due to anxiety or bad temper and more. He must show moderate to significant impairment in a number of areas of life. Pay someone in the know to help you fill out the forms. If you can, do yourself a favor and get a Disability lawyer from the start. They work for a percentage of the settlement, so most won't even touch your case unless its worth it to them and there is a good possibility of winning.
Have you tried the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation for help that could make him employable? If they're well-funded right now, they have a lot of services available. They helped me get back to work. Goodwill is another option- offering job coaches and less stressful work.
