Disclosing Medical Records to School ...

I just received the medical records for my son's treatment from his therapist and psychiatrist. I'm wondering just how much I should disclose to the school ....

Since we've all been traumatized, and have lived in a dysfunctional family, I'm concerned that the school might try and use some of this history against me ... ???

Tough one

This is tough.

On one hand, I am a professional that has lost a student to suicide because a parent withheld information that would have triggered a level of supervision and monitoring that could have saved a life.

On the other hand, I have seen the damage that the bottom of the barrel in my profession has done...

I recommend that you arrange a meeting with the school psychologist. Discuss your concerns and get a read on this person...

I believe that too little information does more harm than too much, but I also trust myself to handle things properly.

The reality it... no parent can tell me anything that I have not heard a 100 times and know how to respond... but I am only one person. (I also work in an area where at least one horrific event a week gets discovered.)

Sharing Personal Information

Thanks for your advice. I have shared some of my concerns regarding my son, and his thoughts of suicide, at the previous meeting. So the school is aware of this, but they seem to not take it seriously.

At the next meeting, I will again stress my concerns, perhaps a little more firmly ..... They really do need to be more serious regarding my son's issues and needs.

I am a bit concerned with how I handle everything because I have rocked the boat, perhaps too much ... I only want to get the necessary help for my son, and feel that I have been ignored, bullied, and cheated when it comes to my son's education.
