13 yr old soon to be stepson with adhd, help!!!!
Hi, my stepson is 13 and we are a blended family with 5 children. I have an 8 yr old and 13 year old twins all girls, my fiancé has two boys the 13 year old and a 15 yr old. My daughters struggle with him at school and home. He was just diagnosed after I moved in with my fiancé and realized quickly this was more of an issue than I had imagined. After speaking to his IEP teacher she said they knew all along. But my fiancé was not so opt to "drug" his son. We both have full custody of our children, so this is a full time problem. He is a sweet boy and very loving at times, but in the morning he is truly evil, homework time is lies and more lies and fighting to get him to do it, bed time is procrastinated forever, and god forbid he doesn't get his way. And the begging to get what he wants, he never stops til his father usually gave in. Since I have moved in there have been rules put in place about cursing, because this boy seems like he was raised my a trucker, but his father doesn't really ever curse. My 8 year old has to see and hear his outburst and cursing and I feel that is wrong. He is now on concerta 27 mg and it helped alot in the beginning but now not as much. His teachers notice a difference though for his focus. That is good. In the first half of the year we all thought he was going to fail the 7th grade, but now he is really doing much better. B and C averages. I just feel I am in an unfair position as are my daughters. I love my man and will never leave him because of it. We are all just tired of tip toeig around him and dealing with his anger issues. I have suggested therapy but that has been met with a big fat "no, that is a waste of time." His compulsive lying is uncontrollable also! Ugh! Help me please.
