I really need your help.

Hi. I am a 23 year old college student working on my BA in Psychology. I am doing my graduation project on adults with ADD and ADHD because I too am ADD and was just diagnosed last summer. I designed my project by looking at blogs but am having a lot of trouble finding the information I am looking for. If you could help me and just let me know the following information about yourself it would be greatly appreciated.

Gender Age of diagnosis Any medications tried or currently being used. Any types of therapy, psychiatrist, individual, group, or family. ADD or ADHD Coach Attention training Also anything else that you have tried or found helpful such as diet, excercise, routine, organization, etc.

I'm sure you get the gist of the kind of information I am looking for. If you could just let me know what worked and didn't it would be greatly appreciated. My project will be confidential so don't worry about names or anything.

Thanks! Jennifer

Hope i can help you

My name is Tee and i'm 38 year old female with ADHD. You wanted to know what has worked. I was diagnosed at 18 years old while in college and it explained why i was the way i am,definately explained school problems as a child. I was placed on Ritalin and Wellbutrin and things got better til i thought i could make it without medications. Second attempt at college i eventually started individual counseling which resulted in being put back on Ritalin and a different antidepressant. This combo worked well and i graduated which was a big success for me i had worked full-time all while going to college. Since college i have been on Concerta and Adderall which have worked well. I find doctors have there favorite medications and will push them on you and most won't deviate from them so you may have to go to a psychiatrist who will push their favorites. A few years ago i lost my job and had no direction my routine was all upside down. I again was put on a antidepressant and my adderall dosage was changed when there was no change in the depression and aggression off to the psychiatrist. There they had the individual counseling and lots of meds. Needless to say they are definately practicing on your expense. After a five minute evaluation you walk out of the office with more diagnosises and medication that potentially won't work but may damage some organs. Every person is different you have to do the research of your symptoms and keep records of what has worked for you. My son and I both have ADHD and we did some family counseling but for us individual counseling does better along with my adderall and hi concerta. If you need anything else let me know my email is ffmedic85@yahoo.com. Tee

SleepWalkers

Get this right the first time and save yourself a lot of hard feelings and busted relations. Missed diagnosis for 35 years finally found the shoes that fit at 46 currently 450 Wellbutrin 60 mg Ritalin.. like when the guy wakes up in the movie the Matrix, you get brought across however this is not as rare as it has been. I used up my allotment of alcohol 24 years ago, get someone who knows how to set you up for success and has a proven track record. You really can afford to screw around with this overhaul. Get a bunch of quacks like I did and get the prime of your life trashed trying to treat it on your own. If some Quack refuses to consider brain imaging helpful don’t buy the square peg in the round hole fits and find someone who honestly knows and is willing to take a personal interest in you. Remember you’ve been sleep-walking most of your life and you in the frickin jungle trying to wake up. Dropping coffee and sugar is for those who have the mild form, not chronic. Given your asking there is already a lot of water under the bridge, be careful and make sure you do something spiritual, this is a human problem and you’re going to need all the help you can get, many great days ahead.
