MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WITH ADHD HITS MY BOYFRIEND
I have a 10 yr daughter diagnosed with ADHD. She seems to have the maturity of an 8 yr old. She is not out of control or mean or aggressive for the most part but at times she does hit. She is high maintenance. Her father and I have been divorced for 3 years. I have a boyfriend who is an elementary school teacher. He and my daughter get along fabulously and they adore each other. Here is the problem: My boyfriend has a wonderful, playful personality. He has a great relationship with his students because of his outgoing personality. It is child-like at times and the kids adore him. At times, when he acts silly and my daughter is coming down on her meds, she jumps on him and goes too far with the playfulness. She often pinches him and hits him. Not necessarily out of aggression, but because of her impulsivity. For example, last night, he was pretending to take a snack from her in front of her softball team and he was leaning over and she said in a playful manner "oh Brian, don't do that" and then she proceeded to hit him on the head 3 times and it was pretty hard. She also hits when they play a video game and he wins she will give him a small smack every time she loses. Help! Is this normal?
