my son thinks he isn't normal and needs to be treated differently

My son thinks he is not normal, and needs to be treated differently at school and at home. It seems he thinks everyone needs to make exception. Yes, he needs reminders, but he is almost 11 and needs to get over being prompted to do everything, step 1, step 2, step, 3, be reminded to complete step 1... over and over again until he feels like complying. I know he has ADHD, but he needs to understand that he needs to take responsibility for his own behaviors, such as getting himself to school on time. I always make sure he gets out the door on time, but I could use some help on his part as well. This goes for homework, cleaning his room....I end up going to war with him over things like getting dressed for school at not a snail's pace.

Kinda the same

My 12 yr old son thinks he is different but in a bad way. Like something is wrong with him. I to have spent his life following up, helping with homework, take your medicine, do your homework, brush your teeth etc. I am so tired of it as he is hearing me say it. We are trying something new. I bought him a Caddex watch. You can program up to 12 alarms. It beeps very quietly until you turn it off. You can also put in text like take meds, brush teeth, brke over. We then did a chore/ daily expectation list Su- Sat. It is 10 things. He has to get 8 done out of the day. All I will say is did you check your schedule. At the end of the day we check it. If he gets at least 8 things done then he keeps his privlages,(tv, computer, video games) For everything he misses he looses a privlage for the next aternoon. I will let you know how it works
