ADHD and ADOLESCENCE

My son has just turned 12 and was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 6. It's been a hard hard (very hard!!) road and lately I feel like we are finally getting to a place where the ADHD isn't ruling our daily lives. However, adolescence is kicking in and I'm interested to know what I can expect from the puberty years with a child with ADHD. My son is a beautiful fun-loving soul but already I'm getting mighty sick of the backchat that never stops, the desire to stay up way past his bedtime because he thinks he's entitled to late nights at 12 (tiredness is a major trigger to bad behavior) and the constant rants about anything he thinks isn't fair. Which is everything at the moment! Plus he's always getting kicked out of class for talking, and I don't want him to be labeled as the trouble-maker, because he really is at heart a lovely boy. All and any advice will be much appreciated!

wow we have the same child

My son is 13 and sounds the exact same as your....I've made an appointment with his doctor because I don't know what to do, he thinks it should all be handed to him and if it doesn't go his way the whole family pays for it! Looking back years ago it was working to give him rewards for being good and sticking to his schedule but know that he is older I think it was wrong to reward for good behavour with materialistic things. I think I should have done special things or gone special places instead.
