I STRUGGLE TO REIGNITE MYSELF...

Living with ADHD for 40 some years and having medical assitance for 16 years has left me with a feeling of little or no momentum left! I feel totally burnt out and bored from the constant everyday tasks and daily self help to my condition. I live in a location where there is no support groups, so I have started online (this being my first site) in search of suggestions/tips. The last book I read was SURVIVAL TIPS for Women with AD/HD. Beyond Piles,Palmes&Post-its. by Terry Matlen, M.S.W. This is a very fun and helpful book for someone who is new to discovering AD/HD ADD. I am not new . I appreciate all the input.

4 hours-nothing done

I have a wonderful to -do list system. Or it would be wonderful if I would begin to check off items. Today was to be a day of indoor accomplishment. For four hours I have learned so much from web sites, but have managed only to throw away several envelopes and made 2 phone calls and wash my hair. My do-list will carry over til tomorrow--UNLESS I take out my timer and set it for 15 minutes of paper sort time and then 15 minutes of vacuum time and 15 minutes of empty the dishwasher time. Now, WHERE is my timer?

a 15 minute challenge

My paper clutter is overwhelming and too easily avoidable. I will work 15 minutes on my papers if you will work 15 minutes on your xxxxx. At the end of the 15 minutes I will pat myself on the back, and try another 15 minutes. Another pat on the back and then.......... Let me know how you do with your 15 minutes.

Struggle..

Thanks Mazel for posting your suggestion. I appreciate any advice. It has been awhile since I have challenged myself. Some people who have ADD/ADHD will have tendencies of OCD, I myself was diagnosed with having it slighty. Cleaning was an area I excelled at!..With good therapy I have overcome that...To the degree of the opposite (clutter, not dirt)LOL.. Yes the good ol timer, that has to be one of the best gifts I was given. Isn't amazing how that helps. Oh to add to the fun I have 2 teenage sons 18 & 15 who never do anything without STRESSING I need physical help..Let the FIREWORKS begin!!

to keep myself going and looking forward to the day. I go out for a brisk invogriating walk. It wakes me up, i feel energized and then I can tackle what is in front of me. I have problems sleeping and I have problems waking up. But since doing this I find I take less medication the cool morning air is refreshing. the timer is okay for me; but I never estimate the time correctly. enlist other to do some of the really boring things like paper. I will cook, clean and wash clothes, fold them instead taking a 15-30 minute of going through paper.
