nortriptyline - Experiences with this med?

My son's Dr. has brought this med up as an idea to possible use with his Ritilin. My son has a lot of impulse control issues and is intensely emotional and has angry/rage reactions at times. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with Nortriptyline? I know it's an older anti-depressant that has been used occasionally for ADHD (off label use)....

I'm trying it right now

I'm an adult with ADHD and I am currently taking a low dose (20mg daily) of nortriptyline. However, I was not prescribed that medication for ADHD, I am taking it to treat a migraine disorder...hence the small dose.

I haven't been taking it for very long, but my experience so far has been good. The only side-effect that I have had is dry-mouth, and only sometimes. It absolutely helps with my migraine-related issues, and happily, because it's an anti-depressant, it seems to be having a positive effect on my mood as well (I also have an anxiety disorder). I feel much calmer and more focused than I have for a while, although just getting rid of the migraine symptoms could be the reason for that too ;)

I am extremely med sensitive so I'm guessing that my reaction to it is probably what many would take a little longer to reach, but so far, I give it two thumbs up. Each person is different of course though...so I will not say that my experience is representative. It looks like I will continue taking it, because it's doing what I need it to do...and if it happens to assist with my ADHD, I'll consider that a terrific bonus too!
