Newly Dx-4 days on Vyvanse- Feel Horrid!!!

I am newly Dx and took my 40 mg Vyvanse for 4 days but the last day (took 1/2 a dose) the headache I had for 1-2 hours the first 3 days lasted for 5 hrs!! I couldn't fact that again so I haven't taken it since. I have never taken any ADHD meds before so I'm wondering if they can help me at 45 yrs of age and not make me feel horrible! Any thoughts or suggestions? I am so frustrated:(

Vyvanse was a life saver for me

I am in my late 20s, and have been on vyvanse for about 2 yrs now. The meds did take some time to get use to. I would become irritable when it wore off. Some days I just didn't feel myself. It was rough, but I'm glad a stuck it out. Your body will adjust and level out on the medication. Take it easy with the doses and don't go up on dose until you feel comfortable with the level you are at.

However, some meds work differently for different ppl, so if it is really bad then just try another med. Don't give up totally on meds, but you can also consider the alternative treatments to go along with the meds.

In full disclosure, I also take effexor. Vyvanse + effexor seems to be the perfect mix of meds for me. But i didn't get there on the first try - so don't give up!

ADHD AND Vyvanse

I was diagnosed last June after my son was diagnosed with mild ADHD. I am 53 and feel a sense of relief after all these years of confusion. I am taking 50 mgs of Vyvanse and I finally feel like myself-if you know what I mean. I also have a great therapist and have learned how to use a planner to organize myself. I also found that for me exercise is muy impotante!! I get irritable when I am tooo sedentary. And yes, sometimes I still find I begin too many projects and don't finish, but I now can put the bat down and do what I can. I also take Lexapro and when needed anxiety meds. Its been a bumpy road....

Thanks!

Thank you for all of your advice I truly appreciate it! The Dr. told me to pour out about 1/2 of the powder from the 40 mg capsule and that has been much better. I still sometimes get a little shaky feeling but I am willing to give it a try and see if this will be the one for me. I am still wondering if a non stimulant med would be better for me since I am so sensitive to stimulant anything, but I guess we'll see how it goes. Thanks again:) Karron
