Walgreens Pharmacy
If there is a Walgreens pharmacy in your area, I suggest talking to them about their generics discount and prescription plan.
I started out at Fred Meyer pharmacy, where the name brand Aderall XR I started with was $385 per month with no insurance, and the generic amphetamine salts started at $85 and was bumped up to $100 (when I asked them why, I was told "basically because we felt like it/wanted more profit"). I asked about Fred Meyer's generics discount, I was told that ADHD and psychiatric medication of ANY sort didn't count since it was a "controlled substance."
I asked at Walgreens out of curiosity and they told me that they did count ADHD medication for the generics discount because, well, it's a frickin' generic so they're going to charge it as such. I was looking at about $60 a month for my amphetamine prescription, and they also suggested a prescription discount card that I pay $20 a year for which brought the price down to $47.
I'm not sure if these rules vary state to state (I'm posting this from Western Washington) or from store to store (maybe stores in troubled areas are more strict?), but it's worth a shot. If you still have insurance of your own I would also check if you can get your child back onto your insurance once the new laws take effect in January/February (that's what my own dad is trying to do).
Hope this helps, and good luck!
