Vegetarian Options for "fish oil" and high protein breakfasts, meal ideas please

I'm a vegematarian ;)

Just wondering if anyone knows of any veggie-friendly fish oil alternatives. I try to take flax oil, but I don't think it's as "complete" as fish oil.

Also, I'm working on starting off the day right with better protein intake... I have difficulty getting my act together for a streamlined morning - cooking anything is a bit much to ask of me in the morning, so quick eats high in protein would be good. I love eggs and cheese; tofu.. most days I find myself having arrowroot cookies and/or fruit for breakfast and then canned soup for lunch. The whole meal planning is quite draining for me, as is planning in general. I've tried many times to do it as a team with DH, with short lasting results. Frustrating, as I know that living day by day is not going to work well when we have children in a few years.

I have ingredients like: textured vegetable protein (TVP) veggie grounds veggie sausages cottage cheese cheese eggs soy protein powder

I don't eat seafood, red or white meat, honey. I generally try to avoid food products that involve the demise of an animal (gelatin, caviar...).

I love: pasta, eggs, tofu, soy sauce, mangos, cheese, "chicken" nuggets, most vegetables (my kids are screwed, I love broccoli, brussel sprouts, spinach...), japanese food.

I don't rely on coffee in the morning, however, I enjoy coca cola a little too much (most sodas in general). I try to avoid artifical sweeteners as much as possible, and try to use organic sugar cane as a sweetener (white sugar uses the bones of cattle during the refining process).

I have been successful in the past at getting a routine going in terms of having a water bottle ready to go in the fridge and a decent lunch... but I fell off it. I guess I just need to brush myself off an get back to the routine.

If there are any vegetarian ADDers or nutritionists out there who can help me out, that would be great!

:)

Flaxseed oil is the most prominent alternative

Flaxseed oil is the most prominent alternative to fish oils. I find it kind of blah tasting, but it works ok I guess.

Vegetarian EPA and DHA

Hi,

I too am vegetarian and use a product from the UK called VPure. Their product is derived from algae and contains a full fatty acid strand unlike flaxseed oil which only contain EPA. They ship to several countries around the world. I have mine shipped to Australia and have never had any difficulties. Good luck!

thanks

thanks for the feedback :)

I have made efforts to get back in the saddle so to speak... I started setting my alarm for earlier so I can take my meds before I have to get out of bed (still was late, but felt better at work); packed some lunch, made some high protein breakfast items and put them in separate containers in the fridge (cottage cheese), wrote on protein powder container how many TBS was how much protein and what I could add the powder to, did the same for my VEGA meal replacement powder, also boiled some eggs.

Fingers crossed I can get my act together so I'm not spending so much money on cab fare b/c I'm leaving too late for the bus.
