Son of 25( with ADHD) and ODD had no signs as child now worsening in adulthood

MY son was diagnosed ADHD at 18, just before going off to college. As a child he was a little over active, but not what I would say "hyper". He was always opediant and co-operative but stubborn at times.. He was shy and antisocial, as I'm sure he sensed he was different . As he went to college he shyed away from groups and only had one male friend, as he did in highschool.. (Not gay). He grew his hair long and had sort-of unconventional ideas and ways- but nothing extreme. As he graduated and is now in the work world and doing graduate school on-line I have noticed he is much more oppositional to usual social norms. His father is very conservative and pro-American and has difficulty with his son voicing the opposite.. My son does not socialize with guys at work ( he attributes this to his not ever drinking alachol) and says he won't go out with them as they go to bars, clubs and my son refuses to do so and drink non-alacholic beverages. He only scializes with women. That is fine by us; his choice. but he is very argumentative and debates any beliefs that most people have and it gets tiresome in conversation. He has not yet been diagnosed but I mentioned it to him that I see him probably having ODD and it increasing as he's getting older. I keep researching but I always only see this diagnosois in children and adolescence and never a word about it in adults. Why? He does have depression, anxiety and OCD and severe insomnia also..

Does your son has a personality disorder? There are different types like antisocial, histrionic, etccc... it does seem he only some of the problems of ADD without the problems of hyperactivity, disorganization and inability to concentrate. You should consider that this may be his problem.

son with ADHD and possible ODD

thank you for your reply. He actually does have disorganizational problems and difficulty concentrating. He does grad school on line in eves after work and takes Ritalin for study and homework only- nothing during the day. I know he doesn't have Bi-Polar but is antisocial and prob has a personality disorder. He does also have a bit of OCD. He doesn't drink or smoke but just revealed to me after telling his therapist he has been abusing Ritalin for a year. He is aware of it and now has a friend hold his medication and she gives him portions at a time so he can't do it any longer. I never suspected, being a nurse and also having ADHD, when he would ask me to send him a few xtra Ritalins from time to time, as he' missed his appointment ' or other stories trying to obtain more. He was told he is not addicted but was abusing it. Is there a difference?
