Newly having behavioral troubles at school, endless PTC's etc PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello all, I am brand new to this forum and have come in search for any advice the seasoned can provide. I have an 8 year old son. He is normally a well-behaved boy, very bright, energetic, loving, enthusiastic and loves school For the past month he has not been on his medication (due to insurance etc, he will have it this but has been doing just fine at home. For the past two weeks though he has been very aggressive at school. Last week Wednesday, he tripped his friend and pinched a girl on her hand on Friday and was sent to the principal's office. We are now having another parent-teacher conference. I have told the teacher that he has had all his privileges taken away (TV, computer games, PlayStation and even participating this season of his very important touring Football Club (soccer). I don't know what to think or do! I keep talking to him and explaining what consequences go with his actions and how he can earn his free time back etc...it doesn't feel like he is remembering anything when he gets to school. Its so frustrating and it hurts me to see him struggling. I don't want to base it all on him not having his meds because he behaved just fine before he ever had them. PLEASE HELP!!!

Vegas Mom- Newly having behavioral troubles at school

Hello Vegas Mom...I am new to this forum but not to to ADHD....I have a 9 yr boy who has SEVERE ADHD...and believe me Medications are extrememly important. It can take anywhere from 3 days -2 weeks for the meds to be out of his system depending on the medication...Although your son may behave differently at home, it is a matter of time and he will behave the same...it generally starts at school then comes home....I have been going through this with my son since he was 4yrs old, plus I have a 16yr daughter who is Bi-Polar and ADD....any questions I am here to help if I can....certainly you should always seek the advice of a physician...sincerley PORTCITYMOM

You are not alone

Get him back in to his doctor, keep his therapy going, keep the support going, the more you know and learn about all of this, the more you can help him and understand it more yourself, it is hard I truly UNDERSTAND you, I'm so use to dealing with it straight at home until its like no biggie, when its the same at home and school for me, I can imagine the frustration in class not be able to understand things and not having anyone to tell was the hardest to me, this is why I want to help my daughter more and more!!!!!
