Labeling

I need some help! I am having problems with my sons school. They are aware that he is ADHD, he even takes medicine while he is there. But the vice principal and the principal have started to label him as the "trouble kid". His teacher is great, she is trying new things and doing what she can. It is the administrators that I am having an issue with. They have started to put my son in in school suspension (ISS), without letting me know, and doing this because of hear-say. There have been major issues reported concerning my son, by parents after the fact, and I have not been made aware of anything until weeks later. I am not saying my son is a perfect angel, by far his impulse control gets him in trouble a lot! But the principal is punishing my son off of these phone calls. We have a conference set up for tomorrow afternoon, and I found out this morning as I dropped him off at school that he is in ISS again TODAY!. I never got a note, or a phone call...nothing. This school USED to call me over everything and anything, now i am not being informed of anything. I dont even know WHY he is there today.

Can someone please give me some advice? I am so furious with this school I am having a hard time myself focusing on what I need to say to these people. I appreciate any and all words of wisdom!

Meeting with the School

That must be very frustrating. In your meeting, you will want to keep your cool and let the school know that you would appreciate a phone call. You deserve to know what is going on with your child. And you are very lucky to have a teacher that is understanding. Perhaps she can help you work with the administrators to arrange better communication regarding your son. It takes a team . . .

Here are a few articles you might want to take a look at before your meeting:

I hope these help. Dena
