Advice Please - We have hit a block yet again

Hi, My son is 9 and has been diagnosed with ADHD yet we have known there is more to it than just ADHD ie cloaked symptoms that are showing themselves more so now meds have taken away the behaviours others look upon as abnormal. We used to live in the UK and there everything is sorted for you just by speaking to GP for referals and experts all tied in. We are now in Australia and found a doctor privately that looked into the ADHD but now says we need to look further into other areas and we need to find a psychologist to be refered to, along with staying refered to him. Has anyone else hit this sort of block in lack of advice and having to yet again seek out the right professionals. It leaves me so frustrated that professionals cannot work together on par so a better service is given instead of going the wrong direstion from wrong advice....and leaving the patient in limbo and confused. Is it right that a private doctor diagnoses this thentells you to find more info elsewhere? where do I turn to?

Picking an ADHD Professional

I can't speak to exactly how the Australian health care system works; but you should be able to find a professional who can treat your son. I'm sure there are lots of parent in the U.S. dealing with the same frustration.

If the doctor you are working with isn't getting the job done, you need to find someone who will.

Here are a few articles that may offer some guidance:

When to Fire Your Doctor

I hope this helps. Dena
