Adhd vs Non-ADHD Discipline

My s/o and I are have MAJOR issues regarding discipline. My two children (ages 7 and 12) are ADHD, He has two children. One who is 5 (non adhd) and one who is 12 (add). The two older children get a long famously! The two younger ones fight. We have his daughter (5-non adhd) every other weekend. We have my son (7 adhd) full time. I believe that when the two children are playing together and it turns into a fight/argument, and hitting is involved, or what ever happens, they are both at fault. One for starting it, and one for retaliating. I don't care who, what, or why....I correct/discipline them both by timing them out, or taking a privilege away. They both get spoken too about how wrong it it to use hands for hurting, not helping. I try to explain it in more detail to my son. My s/o doesn't think that the children should be disciplined the same. He believes that if his daughter didn't start it (especially b/c she's non adhd), she shouldn't be punished, forget that she was involved!!! All that matters is that she didn't start it. To be honest we don't know who starts it, as s/o and I are usually doing house work, etc when these eruption occur. So we don't witness it. However both children admit to doing wrong. Yet!!!!!.....he feels she should not be punished, or if she is....it shouldn't be the same punishment b/c she's not adhd!!!!! Help!!!!!

ADHD Discipline and Fighting Siblings

All kids need discipline. It is important to refrain from labeling one child a "troublemaker", while the other one gets off free and clear.

Here are some articles about encouraging your children to get along and keeping peace in the household.
