Hi - I found your post b/c our 8yo son just began Intuniv as a supplement to his Concerta & I was looking for some side effect info. JT is on 27mg of the Concerta - he started on 18mg. & we had a few AMAZING days of relief & then it just dropped off so we went up but we were very concerned about his tics which were getting worse. Dr. recommended Intunifv to relieve the tics & it is approved to help ADHD rather than increasing the stimulant. It's been about 10 days & a severe anger has risen in him (more than usual) & we are concerned. He thinks his life sucks basically & this is who he is becoming. So, in short, not so sure on this one. It takes a few weeks to build up & work & up until today I was willing to ride it out but now I'm not so sure.

Hello. I'm new here but saw this post and thought i would reply. My son takes Intuniv and has been for about 5 months now. He was diagonised with ADHD at age 3 but i refused to believe it. He's about to turn 5 now and started Intuniv at 4 1/2 years old. It has done wonders for him. He's able to concentrate again and can stay focused in pre k and not be pulled out of circle time all day. It's improved his behavior with tantrums. We no longer have violent tantrums that last 30 minutes to an hour. He's able to calm himself down. I think this medicine is wonderful, and we have had no side effects to discuss so far. I like this medicine because it is not a stimulate and does not hype him up, it actually deals with sleep issues as well and it does not effect his hunger, he is maintaining his weight unlike other medicines we have tried. But like all medicines....they effect everyone differently but i do reccommend Intuniv.

My soon to be 9 yr old son was just put on tenex. We're working him up to 1 mg. He was on conceta for 1 1/2 yrs and a verbal tic started then we stopprd concerta and went to intuniv for 4 weeks and worked up to 4 mg His tic got worse and louder. we went to a new specialist and they are weining him off the intnuiv and we just started tenex anyone have any advise or simialiar story. very upsetting
