Finger Biting

We started giving our 7 year old Focalin the second half of last school year. Took her off over the summer and started again with the supervision of a Psychiatrist this new school year. When we upped the dose the side effects got worse. She continued to not eat lunch, but in addition wouldn't eat anything until like 8 pm at night and then was ravenous. Also she had a real hard time controlling her emotions which caused major tantrums and she began biting the skin of her fingers and thumb. We have since tried Adderrall for a week and took her off becaue these issues got worse. We have now had her off all meds for about 21/2 weeks but she is still finger biting. I don't know how she holds a pencil. Is it possible the meds have started this issue? I feel like we messed her up big time. We are also having other issues and there is no support group in our area. Any help? I feel like I need to talk to someone.
