Has any doctor treated like this before?
So after a few months on Concerta i decided that i needed to find a psyhciatrist who was more informed on ADD drugs than my primary care. I went to one, and he sat with me for an hour asking me bunches of questions, and although i felt he was a little weird, i left feeling like something great was going to happen. I am curious if anyone else has a treatment plan such as this:
He gave me 3 prescriptions.. Dexedrine (6 10mg pills) Focalin XR (9 5mg) and adderall (6 10mg)
He told me to start with either dexedrine or focalin.
I started with dexedrine because no pharmacy has the focalin and it had to be ordered. so here is the plan:
Day 1 take one Dex in the morning, note how you feel and if it helps,
Day 2 Take 2 Dex in the morning fill out the chart if this works i am done if not go to day 3
Day 3 take 3 note how you feel fill out the chart
Next day start Focalin
Day 1 take 2 Focalin fill out the chart
Day 2 Take 3 Focalin Fill out the Chart
Day 3 If i didn't think 2 or 3 was enough i could take 4 and see how i feel
He told me i could get the adderall filled if i wanted to, but to do that last. I want to try it so i will, because i hear it works for motivation which is something i am lacking.
I go see him on monday with results, and he will then determine if we should try more drugs and do this again... Has anyone heard of this? can you tell in three days if the drug is right for you? I think he is trying to eliminate my side effects, which is GREAT, and he also told me i should have tried at least one of each of the ADHD meds before being put on concerta.
I say this because when i started with ritalin and concerta it took it about a week for me to feel the effects.. I do like how the dexedrine makes me feel more like me compared to the concerta, but i am still a bit edgy especially on the higher doses. i am rambling, so maybe day 3 of the dex isn't working ;)
