iPhone
I have been through several systems including PDAs, Blackberry, DailyPlanner notebooks, online, and the back of my hand. Even tried a Moleskin. The problem I have found, and maybe others have as well, is that I don't have enough attention to remember that one extra item or after I have my work cell phone, my personal cell phone, and other sundries I don't have any more room for another item. I'm a guy so I have no purse and if it's not cool outside and no jacket is needed then my pant's pockets are bulging. Whatever the reason, my system isn't ALWAYS there for me so I end up not relying on it.
So I had to find a way to incorporate what I needed into what I am already carrying. I used to carry a regular cell phone and work provides me a Blackberry. The Blackberry is great for email but beyond that the screen and interface just don't cut it. I noticed that I seemed to always have my personal cell phone so that seemed like a logical place. After switching to the iPhone for personal use (not for ADD but because I'm a techy) I have to say this has become the best option yet by far. With the abundance of apps available you can find the one that fitsyour needs and likes. For me, I use the Notes app which comes on the phone and Google Tasks. I use Google Calendar which import/exports to and from the Google apps online so I can access it from my iPhone or anywhere with an internet connection. Any changes I make online or on the phone are synced up automatically. Mint (Mint.com) helps keep track of finances. The camera is perfect for taking quick snapshots of things I need to remember but don't have time to jot down. It also has a voice recorder. Keep in mind all of these apps are FREE! Though the phone isn't free or cheap by any stretch. There are also a gazillion alarm apps. My favorite is EasyWakeup which monitors your movements during the night (the iPhone has an accelerometer) and wakes you when it sense that you are in your lightest phase of sleep. And yes, it works!
While the iPhone and service are not cheap and I struggled to justify the expense, I have found it well worth it considering how it has benefited me. I think other ADDers should really consider it. I've read a lot of articles here and elsewhere about tech-devices for ADDers but haven't seen any real reference to the iPhone. I haven't found any apps with all of the "daily planner" needs built into one app but that hasn't really bothered me since I have been able to selectively choose and customize which tools I use for which function. They're still all in one single device and now the only place I don't have my iPhone handy is in the shower and my ToDo list there is easy to remember.
Hope that helps someone!
