I have been on Adderall and just had the most FRUSTRATING thing happen to me at Walgreens. I was picking up some other prescriptions yesterday but had dropped off my new Adderall rx last week. The last time I picked up the adderall was 8/21/09. The pharmacy tech told me I could not pick it up yet until 9/21/09, that it has to be 30 days. I got home and started thinking about this and how it has NEVER been an issue in the past and called back up. The guy told me it actually only had to be 27 days for a controlled substance. When I brought to his attention that TODAY was the 27th day, he put me on hold and came back and told me the pharmacist on duty wanted me to wait 30 days. Excuse me?????? So then he said unless she could get the doctors authorization (granted, the rx was written on 9/10/09). I told them to do that immediately, and I called the prescribing doctor as well. Within 5 minutes, they had the physicians approval and told me they would fill it. This made me absolutely livid! That the pharmacist would BYPASS the law and make that sort of personal judgement against me; I felt so discriminated against and treated almost like a criminal. I have been going to this Walgreens for 5 years and my family and I get A LOT of prescriptions. The pharmacist told me she knew of no such law for how long one must wait to get a controlled substance refilled. I had her go through my history and she even verified I usually picked the rx up on the 28 or 29th day. Am I wrong in this instance? I hope not because I am so mad and am going to speak with the head Pharmacist today at 2:00. Does anyone know the law in this matter? I can't find anything.
