ADHD Accommodations on the Job
I agree that "reasonable accommodations" is ambiguous. This article about Your Legal Rights at Work claims that:
It's not enough to have a formal ADD diagnosis. The doctor must indicate that symptoms are severe enough to be considered disabling. If your husband meets these conditions, his employer is obligated by the ADA to talk with him about how his condition affects his ability to work, and to consider providing accommodations that will enable him to do his job.
Reasonable accommodations are considered things that don't pose an undue hardship to the employer - solutions that aren't outrageously expensive or burdensome to the business. Bottom line: "Reasonable" varies from company to company.
Has your husband told his employer about his ADHD? It is difficult to claim discrimination if the employer doesn't know about your husband's condition.
Good luck,
Dena
