Switching from Vyvanse to Adderall XR?

Hello all, I was diagnosed with ADHD about a year and a half ago and my pyschiatrist put my on Vyvanse (50mg) to treat it, along with 100mg of zoloft and 300 mg of wellbutrin XL to treat mild social anxiety and depression. I took the vyvanse all last year and while it helped for 2 or 3 hours, after that it defiantly dropped off, my productivity was defiantly comprimised. He later switched me to 60mg and I am noticing no difference whatsoever.

I am on the larger side 6'2" around 215 lbs, so I am wondering if the 70mg will be useless in terms of effects. I am a college student and to be honest I need something that lasts from the morning for class into the evening for homework and studying, which vyvanse did not do. I was thinking about talking to my doc about switching over to adderall xr as this seems to be a much longer lasting med. Am I right?

Switching ADHD Meds

That is definitely something you want to discuss with your doctor. But it is good to do your research before the appointment. You may need to adjust the dosage.

RE Switching from Vyvanse to Adderall XR

PreLaw - while I haven't been on Vyvanse I am currently on Adderall XR 25. I started at 15 which did nothing. Right now for me I am experiencing that I get about 5-6 hours out of it depending on the day. I am going to try and see if I can back it with a lower dose in the afternoon to get me through the evening after work when I am home and trying to get things done there. The problem I have with it is as it is wearing down for me (and I have heard this from others) is that it that is heightens my anxiety and sometimes makes me a little moody and tired. As Adderall XR is an amphetamine mixed salts when you are coming down sometimes it can be a rougher down than some of the others. You may also want to talk to your Dr. about the Daytrana patch, my DD is in college and she uses it for some of her long days instead of having to take 2 or 3 doses of something.
