Stay Strong
Nini:
Stay strong for her. There is an excellent book called "Understanding Girls with ADHD". There are also books in the library that are written specifically for children at a childs level that helps them understand themselves and their own behaviors. Your child has been gifted with curiosity, energy and a headstrong personality if she has ADHD. Just continue to think that way and she will too. Although medication (once it's the right one) helps with concentration in the classroom and some social interactions, it won't eliminate all of the challenges of ADHD. Continue to research this site and put routines in place in your home that will give her a positive direction; like check lists. In all honesty it is likely not a bad thing that she is being held back a grade. My daughter is in grade 7 now and is easily a year behind in maturity. We wanted to hold her back a year when she was in grade 1 and chose not to. In hind site it would have been the better idea, because now it would be devastating for her, even though she really doesn't have a great deal of friends.
Stay strong, stay positive and fight for her because you will come up against teachers in the future who will not always know what is in her best interests. Only you know that.
