Need Help for My Eight-Year-Old Son
I have an eight year old son that I need to get help for but have no idea where to start. He is a very caring, but very very sensitive kid who takes things to heart especially any kind of normal teasing that most kids do. He is way behind in reading and all the other kids in his class who were behind are well ahead now. All of his teachers say it is not for lack of trying because he tries very hard. He is well behaved in school there are no problems there so far. He takes two speech classes and gets upset when others can't understand him, for example he has a hard time telling a story about something that may have happened earlier, and word pronunciation. When someone says they can't understand him he gets upset and says "That's why I have two speech classes". So he is well aware of the problem. I'm sure there is a learning disability but with this school he will probably be in fifth grade before they even test him. He gets in moods where he seems angry and frustrated and I don't even think he knows why, he cries and destroys favorite things sometimes, or his artwork that I'm saving, says he hates himself, that he wants to die, hes going to kill him self. and nothing I do seems to help and it really scares me. He was talking to my mom the other day and said that he was just born different then everyone else and that hes different than other kids. When he is in these moods i try to get him to eat and it seems to help because sometimes he will be a complete angel afterward. ( blood sugar problem????) sometimes not.. I've heard that sometimes learning disabilities have an emotional trail that can come with them. I'm not sure what I'm dealing with or a combination of things but I want to get help for him before he is too old or its too late..... PLEASE if any one has any ideas please I need help???????/
