Psych Testing

I finally went to see my family doctor about getting a diagnosis for ADD. I've read multiple books & websites and am very sure that I have this condition. He barely talked to me about it and said he'd have to set me up with a psychologist for testing before he could do anything about it. I'm very curious to know what goes on during these tests...he said it could be a 2 hour test! Could anyone who has taken these an adult tell me what happened during their test? What sort of questions, activities, etc...? I actually do very well on tests in school...I guess I just don't see how a test is going to be better at showing I have ADD rather than really talking to me about my symptoms and life experiences. It's going to be really expensive and I have no insurance, so I'm debating over whether or not I should find a different doctor to take a different route.

ADHD Diagnosis

Given your insurance situation, I would recommend you do a little more research about the ADHD diagnosis process before you make any more doctor appointments. The more prepared you are, the better you will be able to maximize the short time you get with a doctor. Make the most of your time and money with a little extra research.

There is no definitive test for ADHD, so sometimes it can be challenging to get a correct diagnosis. Here are some articles that describe the ADHD diagnostic process and include tips on ensuring you get the correct diagnosis.
